A periodontist is a dentist who specializes in treating gum disease and other disorders of the tissues surrounding your teeth. Due to recent advances, periodontists are able to offer their patients a wide range of periodontic services, which include techniques to regenerate lost tissue and to reconstruct with dental implants.
Dr. Steven H. Sumida's background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology with Summa Cum Laude and election to Phi Beta Kappa (Honor Society) at University of California at Los Angeles (1981), a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with University of California Regent Scholarship and election to Omicron Kappa Upsilon (Dental Honor Society) at University of California at Los Angeles Dental School (1985), and a Certificate of Specialty in Periodontics at University of California at San Francisco Dental School (1988).
