While my work has been architecturally varied, most of my recent projects are interpretations of the romantic revival period of 1920s and 30s. I enjoy creating homes that follow traditionalist concepts and detailing while including modernist sensibility; homes that are for today's lifestyle yet also have a sense of warmth and a strong connection to its gardens and environs. I often draw inspiration from rural European archetypes such as the farms and hilltowns of Andalusia, the small farms of Provence, and seaside villages along the Mediterranean. To sculpt the structure, I use materials of subtle richness, such as thick plaster walls and tiles or stone roofs. When completed, my homes portray a feeling of timelessness, reflecting less the work of an architect but rather the richness of craftsmanship and tradition of an earlier time. Philosophy / Passion

I personally do all the design work, overseeing the preliminary drawings and meeting with the client over the course of the project. I assign a Project Architect for each commission to prepare construction documentation and coordinate project administration under my supervision.

I believe in the harmony between architecture, interiors and furniture. I coordinate this aspect of the design process with the help of my associates, or work closely with an interior designer selected by the client.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. I established my own firm in 1982 and have designed approximately one hundred forty projects, primarily residences for individual clients with an estimated construction value of over one billion dollars. I studied architectural engineering as a second major while at Cal Poly and am licensed as both a Licensed Architect and Professional Engineer.
