Thousands of people in Alameda County have a relative or loved one with a serious mental illness-a child, spouse, parent or sibling. Others have a close friend who is mentally ill. Many of these families and friends have joined together as NAMI Alameda County/Family Alliance of Mental Illness to provide mutual support and informatoin, and to work together for changes in the mental health system.
THE FAMILY ALLIANCE ON MENTAL ILLNESS was formed in June of 1977. It is a special program of the Mental Health Association of Alameda County, and is affiliated with NAMI California and NAMI National.
There are no fees for services or participation. Because the Family Alliance is a program of the Mental Health Association of Alameda County, families are encouraged to join the Associaton as Associate Members. You are invited to join us in working toward these goals.
