The Story of Ann – Finding Control
“By chance, my husband had overheard a conversation in an elevator one day; two ladies were retelling their personal stories of overcoming a 30 year long smoking addiction in only one session of therapy.
My husband immediately thought of me. I have been struggling with weight issues over the last decade and specifically over the last couple of years since I had gone on an anti-depressant following a traumatic event in my life. The weight issue has once more returned to plague me, and with it a deep sense of shame. Unable to accept the way I now looked – I felt everyone around me was passing harsh judgment on me. In my mind, weight was the source of all my problems. To put it simply, I had lost confidence in myself, in my work, in my relationships I was stuck in a rut!
When my husband came home with Cynthias business card and a story to match, I was skeptical. Cynthias background as a doctor of neurobiology was very appealing and the description of the Neuro-Emotional Method on her website was very interesting. As skeptical as I was, if this method works than it would be the quickest least painful way to eliminate the source of what is wrong in my life it was worth a shot. Many of my friend have spent years in therapy with not much to show for it. I needed a new and different way of approaching core issues.
When I met with Cynthia I found a soft spoken, sharp minded compassionate person. Over time Ive come to think of her as a human-condition detective. My first meeting with her convinced me that she was highly intelligent and trustworthy. She gave me a short demonstration of how the NET method works, and did nothing to sell me her services. I got the impression that she was genuinely trying to help, nothing more. After giving it some thought I decided to start therapy.
Within one session, I could see a big difference in myself. I was no longer feeling ashamed of my weight – the experience behind that feeling was neutralized. Still I was skeptical, but I decided to continue. The next few sessions produced similar results. I was back to my old confident self. Issues and pain that were not on my initial agenda were surfacing and since treatment was so nonthreatening to me I was able to bring them up and have them eliminated. I have had 8 one hour long sessions to date, and feel like a completely different person. In the 12 short weeks I have known Cynthia I was able to get off of the antidepressant I was taking, and do my best work professionally as well as effortlessly expand my social circle.
Ive recently told Cynthia that I feel Im a positive people magnet attracting great people into my life, and its a wonderful feeling.
Im in the best mental shape Ive been in years!!! Thanks Cynthia!”
