The Fall Season is here, and the Winter Season is fast approaching. With the start of school, we are reminded that good vision is critical to each child's academic performance. Subtle vision problems missed by eye screenings can negatively impact their learning processes. Drs. Kam and Ching will carefully test your children's eyes for these conditions. In fact, the American Optometric Association now recommends a well baby eye exam for every baby by about six months of age. Drs. Kam and Ching can detect cataracts, significant amounts of nearsightedness, farsightness, astigmatism, and 'lazy eye', among other eye conditions, in babies. When the cooler months approach, some of us may be mistaken in thinking that sunglasses are not necessary. In fact UV 400 radiation is a danger to our eye tissues even during this time of the year. UV filtering sunglasses help to prevent the serious eye problems that result from ultraviolet radiation exposure, such as early cataracts and macular degeneration.
