Hi, I am Natalie Verheyden, a.k.a. NV, as so the name goes,
and I am a licensed driving instructor here in Marin County. I
have been teaching Driver's training (behind-the-wheel
instruction) for six years now.
For Driver's education I recommend
www.welcomedriver.com , and if you put in the code: nvmarin
, you will receive a 25% discount.
I have added some information that I have put together over the
last few years. I recommend that all of my students print out
and study the cheat sheets and the additional driving tip
Also, for a more in depth study, I have copied and pasted
portions of the DMV's Driver's Handbook, highlighting areas that
I feel are important.
Please feel free to email me with feedback, questions, or
comments. Thank you, and safe driving!

Providing Comprehensive Driving Instruction for
new and existing drivers
DMV requires two certificates when taking the
permit test (cert. completion for Driv. ED & cert.
enrollment in Driv. Training) for students under
the age of 18.
The student then must have their permit a
minimum of 6 months (though the permit is good
for 1 year and can be renewed if needed) and
have no less than 6 hours of professional
instruction by state law.

“Natalie was a very effective driving teacher and
gave my daughter confidence as well as good
strategies for the road. I was very happy to have an
expert teach things like freeway skills, parking, and
navigating in SF traffic. Natalie’s schedule was
flexible, she was enthusiastic, personable, and on
time. She even called to see how the test has
gone—and we were happy to report that my
daughter sailed through the first time. I’ve
continued to feel proud of my daughter’s
competence behind the wheel and while she gets
credit for being that good driver, I give Natalie
credit for providing an excellent foundation and a
good set of skills for the highway.”
This is Alec Kassin. Sorry it took so long to tell you
how I did on my driving test, but I've been swamped
with stuff this past week. Anyways, I passed! Woo! I
only got two things wrong; when i was backing up 30
ft, the first time I was too far away from the curb
(because I was afraid of hitting it and auto failing)
but the second time I did it perfectly. The only other
thing i did wrong was when i was pulling back into
the DMV, I wasn't doing the swivel head. Anyways, I
just wanted to thank you for all you've done!
I couldn't have done it without you!
I just wanted to let you know that Zack passed his
behind-the-wheel driving test this past Wednesday.
He was pretty excited about getting his license and,
not surprisingly, he is now constantly bugging me
preparation for the test was great. Thanks for
I meant to call you this week, but i forgot. Bryn took
her test on Thursday and PASSED!! She is thrilled.
Thank you very much for working with her. I will
pass your name on to all of her friends.
Just writing to tell you I passed my driving test with
only 3 marks off. (!!!!!)
(However, this was the second time I took it. The first
time I failed on an automatic fail because I stopped
when there was a green right-hand arrow. I thought it
was a little extreme to fail me, and I was pretty
upset, but now I have my license!!!)
Thanks for being such a good teacher!!
They didn't do anything different. Thanks again for
teaching me so well.
