We Dawn patrolled Isthmus reef and ruled over the whole reef all day! We had it all with everything from 30 to 50 to 60ft. underwater vis, average water temp was 63 degrees with Kelp thicker than thick. Most got in 3 dives & On the third dive we had a encounter with a White Seabass. Usually White Seabass stay away from bubbles and he did but still lingered longer than we would have thought, giving us a chance to really check him out! Thanks Captain George for another fun time diving aboard the mighty Sandollar.

Beautiful warm offshore Southern California weather will ensue this week and actually downright warm up even more by the middle of the week. We have a giant high pressure ridge filling in and staying fat right on thru to the weekend. Then we will see a little split flow system cooling us to more seasonal temps but no moisture. Waves are down now with only 1-3ft. surf water temps averaging 62 degrees. Laguna Bch lifeguards issued a green flag today with 8-10ft. underwater visibility. Come Wednesday we have a huge West North West swell from 295-300 degrees. Note there will still be wrap around into south facing beaches from this & it will come into O.C. around 4-6ft high! Larger on West facing Beaches! Combine this with radical extreme tidal swings this week from the New Moon cresting Friday & we should get some chaos. This swell stays into the next weekend.
Sunday was a pick day, warm offshore & no surf to speak of. As always we dawn patroled to get the best spots. Diving was great as far as beach dives go, we found we had about 15ft. of underwater visibility…finally more than just 10 feet or less. We have been waiting for this and we caught it just right! Tide was high & incoming, the water was working its way up to the base of the stairs! Saw lots of fish, even more kelp, stingrays and a Octopus that we got to play with. Congratulations & thanks for your patience to Eddy Pattillo for completing his O/W Diver Certification, the lifetime of adventure has just begun.
We dove the New Cobalt air intregrated computer on our Boat trip this past Sunday. We dove Ship Rock for most of the day and had great weather with warm and slight off shore winds. Super calm water, so even the beginners got in at shiprock! Visibility underwater varied around 40-60 ft. Last stop ended up being stony point as we were trying to find blue not clear green diving conditons. We had only 25-30 ft. at best for underwater vis at stony but shiprock had more than made up for it. We had a great time and this new Computer by Atomic is shaping up to shake the Diving Computer world by storm! This full featured Dive computer is very intuitive, easy to use and has a built in digital compass. Other features like rechargeability and the new Organic LED backlit technology set this computer several notches above many competitive similiar models. They should be available at the end of October. Go on our next boat October 31st and we will let Divers try it again!
Congratulations to our newest certified Divers; Nicole Marquez, Jose Marquez & Dan Lawrence. They finished their O/W Scuba Course training dives this Past Sunday! Welcome to a lifetime of Adventure!
Upon request we have brought back the 80′s with the “no surf entries t-shirt” We first did this shirt back in 1986 & boy did it start a comotion amongst the other Dive shops. We are not afraid of surf we just want our Novices to have the most positive experience for their first dive’s and most times So Cal Beach dives are not the best way to go about doing that. We are down with the Hanes beefy T, cool pocket on the front and a clear message on the back.
