Post-traumatic stress affects everyone differently. For some, it’s distancing themselves from loved ones, society, and even from part of themselves. Thus it becomes very challenging to maintain healthy relationships.
For others, it becomes difficult to maintain a job, making the possibility of homelessness or even where their next meal will come from, a daily worry.
And the most tragic is when all of this becomes a way of life that is unbearable. Or having the constant feeling of being a burden to their family and friends, or society to such a degree that this sense of hopelessness leads to thoughts of suicide. A thought that is all too often carried out, leaving those around them to question, “What could I have done to prevent this?”
I personally have asked that question for so long, that I spent the better part of nearly 20 years putting together what I feel is the most comprehensive program to help as many people as possible and to prevent ever getting to the point of giving up.
Realizing that financial challenges cannot be what stands between someone getting the help they need and losing everything, the non-profit, The Inner North Star PTSD Retreat Center was created.
Every dollar donated goes to providing no-cost retreats not only aimed at Veterans and First Responders seeking help with Post Traumatic Stress but also in training them to help others in their home, community, or workplace who are suffering from PTSD. Thus, this 3-part, Train the Trainer Program has the ability to have a healing ripple effect that can truly make a difference.
