After a career in graphic design and illustration, I have returned to my original love for fine art, drawing and painting. I focus primarily on landscapes and figurative subject matter. Although I have some classical training in plein air oil painting, I have used watercolor as a central medium. Watercolor has properties, which allow for unpredictability and spontaneity. Planning a painting strategy in watercolor is also, challenging. I prefer painting on location or working from live models to using photographic reference. Painting requires constant evaluation and I remind myself to be my own best critic. This is not to say, critical to the point of stagnation, but critical in the ability to assess my failures and successes equally. My paintings are an exploration and meditation on the beauty and harmony found in the natural world. After a career in graphic design and illustration, I have returned to my original love for fine art, drawing and painting.
