Family Law, when practiced well, is among the most challenging and complex legal practice areas, consisting of an ever-changing body of law. It is one which potentially has profound consequences to the parties, both financially and personally, and which involves negotiation, litigation, the weighing of good and bad options, strategic thinking, decision-making from a global perspective, and a strong consideration of consequences to children. This all exists within an emotionally charged atmosphere of shattered expectations, damaged egos and, occasionally, legitimate psychological dysfunction.

It requires an in-depth understanding of civil procedure, trial procedure, evidence, appellate law, collections law, discovery and numerous other practice areas.
