My name is Daniel R. Kisner, the principal attorney of the Kisner Law Firm. Since my practice of law began in 1975 I have realized that it is better to avoid legal problems or at least to know what your rights and risks are, before becoming embroiled in a legal dispute. Usually when most people think they need an attorney to provide a service, a problem has already surfaced. We will counsel and educate you to be proactive. We will review and prepare contracts and other legal documents BEFORE they are executed. We will also advise you on your rights and obligations, so that you will be able to know what the risks and benefits are before you are legally committed to a course of action.
Real Estate Law
Real estate has traditionally been a source of significant wealth in our society, going back to the feudal system in the Middle Ages to our current time. Not only is there a changing body of law that is unique to real estate transactions (such as selling, buying, leasing and financing) the money to be made or lost in real estate is often subject to how you structure the transaction. This includes how you allocate legal, environmental and financial risks. Knowing how to do this requires more than a mere knowledge of the law but also a skill in forming transactions and making good decisions, which is gained through many years of experience. (compared to real estate law), complex laws and regulations involving tangible personal property (such as equipment and inventory) and intangible personal property (such as accounts receivables, good will, ownership of business entities, and taxes) must be followed. A business transaction may be a trap for the unwary or the unprepared due to unforeseen or undisclosed liabilities or your unintended waiver of your rights. Many business transactions also involve real estate, which makes the practice of business law and real estate law an effective combination.
