In April of 2008, three months after their fateful meeting, Kai Van Bodegom-Smith and Irene Caguinguin hatched an idea. Kai had a penchant for the Oriental Healing Arts and a passion for caring for others; Irene was a business artist in need of a subject and a canvas. Together, they built an entity that has taken on a life of its own. Breakthrough Healing Arts was built on the foundation that people are divine creations of their physical presence, their energetic emotions, and their thought patterns. And the space that they built, at first with the humble intention of being both a classroom and treatment space, has truly become a safe haven in which people from all walks of life can come in and express themselves fully, through practice, meditation, treatments and, sometimes, just in community.

We have two locations in California:
In San Diego, the clinic is located at 4330 Cass Street, San Diego CA 92109 in the lively neighborhood of Pacific Beach off Grand Avenue.

The postures in this form are designed to help you feel external energy while increasing circulation throughout your body. Have greater focus and build strength in your body. Series includes Taoist Meridian Stretching, Meditation, Full-body Cleansing, Drawing the Bow, Full-body Spiraling, and standing 9-Breath. Detailed instructions will be provided, along with a short theoretical discussion at the beginning of class. (1 CE Credit for Massage Therapists)

Qigong Open Level Practice 6:45 - 8:15pm $10
Both Level 1 (see below) and Level 2 (see above) will be practiced at this location, depending on the class attendance. (1 CE Credit for Massage Therapists)

Qigong Level 1 Practice 6:45 - 8:15pm $10
This is the foundational practice that will allow you to feel energy vibrating through your body. The focus is on building an energy reservoir in your core and being more aware of balance, breath and alignment. Series includes Taoist Meridian Stretching, Meditation, Empty Force, Cloud Hands, Earth Hands, Around the World and Push Hands. Detailed instructions will be provided, along with a short theoretical discussion at the beginning of class. (1 CE Credit for Massage Therapists)

10:00am - 1:00pm $30
Learn basic principles of the Chinese Five Element system and how it relates to your health, your home and your relationships. Practice the 5 Element Meditation and discover ways to bring more harmony in your life.
All attendees will leave the class with a birth chart (birth year, month, day and hour required) and knowledge of what to do in order to live a more balanced life.

Using the rhythm of your breath, the movement of energy, and the power of group intention, we will gather once a month to send loving and healing to our closest loved ones, to places around the world, to the earth that needs us. A great way to connect with your breath, be in community and to be in nature.
Please bring yoga mats, blankets, beach chairs and many many layers to keep warm. The sun sets at 6:06pm this evening.
The Breath Empowerment Monday, November 29th

This is one of the most intense and powerful breathing practices you will ever experience! It takes only 40 minutes, but your body feels the vibration for much longer as you achieve levels of relaxation and overall body wellness. One of the few physical exercises you can do that increases your body's alkalinity, this practice is extremely healing. Music and the instructor's voice are there to coach you through the whole process. Large amounts of Qi will enter your body and create a vibration, like an engine humming through your body. This sacred practice from India routinely produces profound experiences in people.

Breakthrough Healing Arts is honored to be certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. We are happy to provide CE hours for NCBTMB-certified Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers. Credits are eligible for up to two years.
