Meditation for the week, November 28-December 5 -Judy Chicago, 1979, echoing Jewish
And then all that has divided us will merge
And then compassion will be wedded to power
And then softness will come to a world that is harsh and unkind
And then both men and women will be gentle
And then both women and men will be strong
And then no person will be subject to another's will
And then all will be rich and free and varied
And then the greed of some will give way to the needs of many
And then all will share equally in the Earth's abundance
And then all will care for the sick and the weak and the old
And then all will nourish the young
And then all will cherish life's creatures
And then all will live in harmony with one another and the Earth
And then everywhere will be called Eden once again.
It's almost Thanksgiving! And here in the San Francisco Bay Area it feels like summer, or least summer as we remember it to be if we grew up somewhere other than very near the west coast. Enjoy the toasty warmth while it lasts.
Next Sunday, November 21, is the last Sunday in the church year; time to clear everything out and begin again! But first we'll have turkey and all the trimmings together, after church. You are so welcome!
On the last Sunday of November, the 28th, we start all over again with year A; ADVENT is the first season in this new church year. Advent's color is blue/purple; mystery, awe and anticipation are its atmosphere. As our days become shorter and darker, we light candles and long for the coming Christ to be born in our hearts once again.
Join us for the music, the mood, and the colors of Advent as we get ready for the Joy of Christmas!
