70% of the families who come to MAIA identify as lesbian or queer. Our strong history of providing care to such families through preconception, pregnancy, birth and postpartum makes us singularly positioned to address culturally specific issues. We are comfortable and familiar working with all types of families: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, polyamorous, group families, etc.
One of MAIA’s specialties is assisting women over 40 in getting pregnant using their own eggs. Close to 50% of our clientele are over 40. We routinely see women over 45. Through our methods of fertility optimization and through charting and careful timing, our success rate is quite high.
Close to 40% of the women we work with are single moms-to-be. We carry no judgment about single motherhood–in fact, we celebrate the strong powerful women who choose to parent on their own. We are able to provide a quality of care and support that is unparalleled.
We have worked with countless families where at least one parent is trans, cross gender, gender fluid, or gender queer. As a result, we are quite familiar with the pertinent issues surrounding conception, pregnancy, and early parenting. Many families come to us for both cultural sensitivity and for information that is difficult to find elsewhere.
30% of the families we work with are heterosexual. Because we are natural fertility specialists, many people come to us who are either not drawn to the western infertility approach or have tried it without success and would like a holistic approach. Our fertility awareness and timing plans are so personalized that many women working with reproductive endocrinologists find the missing link after consulting with us.
Unique Fertility Enhancement & Consultation Services
As leading natural fertility specialists, we will design and update a personalized plan with you whether you are having difficulty conceiving or are just beginning. Wherever you are in the process of bringing a baby into your life, we are here to assist you. We work in tandem with fertility specialists and sperm banks, or we can function as your sole care provider. We are able to provide not only comprehensive fertility care, but also miscarriage consultation and the support often needed in early pregnancy, before prenatal care has been established.
Preconception Consultations include:
Fertility Treatment for (bio) Men
MAIA offers fertility enhancement services for male partners, co-parents, or known donors. By encouraging a healthy lifestyle, nutritional and herbal changes, MAIA is here to help you increase your chances of conception. In careful review of semen analyses we are able to design a timing and method plan tailored to the combined need of moms-to-be and the quality and availability of the sperm being used.
Known Donors/Co-Parents
MAIA offers both in-person and phone consultations for potential known donors. We are happy to meet with you and your potential donor to help you to clarify your visions of family. Using the expertise developed from having worked with countless versions if intentional families, we can help you to be as specific and clear in your communication as possible. These consults help greatly to reduce the afterthoughts of “I wish I’d thought to ask . . .” We are also available to consult with the potential donor/co-parent (and his partner as well) to answer some of the natural concerns that come up for men and transwomen considering this role.
A significant element of the preconception care offered at MAIA is counseling. Together we can help you clarify your family vision and relationship concerns, create coparenting agreements, or explore whether to use a known donor or a sperm bank.
We help families to manage the emotional rollercoaster ride of the insemination cycles. We assist single mothers and mothers-to-be in creating the support circles needed to parent to their maximum potential. We also aid women in clarifying whether or not they want to parent.
