New for this Election: Ranked-Choice Voting
For the November 2, 2010 election, San Leandro voters will use Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) for the first time for the Mayor and Council District races. Learn more about how to vote using RCV by visiting our Ranked-Choice Voting webpage or, by attending an upcoming RCV presentation at a location near you.

Town Hall Meetings Scheduled to Discuss the Boat Harbor Basin
Town Hall Meetings have been scheduled to provide the community an update on the Shoreline Development project to date and gain input on alternatives for the boat harbor basin. Please plan to attend and share your ideas. The same information will be covered at both meetings so you need only attend one.
Tuesday, November 9, 7:00 p.m. at the Main Library, Karp Room, 300 Estudillo Avenue
Wednesday, November 17, 7:00 p.m. at the Marina Community Center, 15301 Wicks Boulevard
Parking Changes to the 1550 East 14th Street Lot in Downtown San Leandro
On November 22, when construction of the new downtown parking garage is scheduled to begin, the former Albertsons parking lot will be converted to Permit Parking and 3-Hour parking. The permit parking will accommodate vehicles that have been displaced during demolition and construction of the new downtown parking garage. Parking Permits are available to the public for $30 a month and employees are encouraged to purchase permits in order to leave short-term parking spaces for customers. In celebration of America Recycles Day, the City is hosting a recycling collection event for household batteries, fluorescent lights, pharmaceuticals and mercury-containing devices. The event will be held at the Marina Community Center, located at 15301 Wicks Blvd. in San Leandro.
Traffic Delays - East 14th Street Median Project
Construction began some time ago along East 14th Street between 136th and 144th Avenues and recently resumed after a six-week delay. Motorists should expect traffic delays during contruction. During work hours, one traffic lane in each direction will be closed. Intermittent delays will continue until the project is complete in November.

The City's Police Department has now instituted the CodeRed Emergency Notification System. CodeRed is an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications within San Leandro.
