Gateway to the High Country
Nestled at the base of the Sierra Buttes whose rocky peaks tower 8,600 feet, Herrington's Sierra Pines Resort is located in historic Sierra City. Founded in 1850 and once a booming mining town, Sierra City has become a popular tourist area. Splendid scenery abounds as the beautiful Yuba River meanders for a third of a mile through the resort property. The Resort maintains private walking trails where you will find picnic tables and chairs placed along the river for our guests' relaxation.
The Resort has a beautiful dining room and bar serving cocktails and delicious meals. The dining room can be partitioned off to accommodate small meetings in a private and relaxed atmosphere.
Standard accommodations have satellite TV, ESPN/HBO, local programs and more, coffee makers, one king size or two double beds, and covered decks with either a mountain or river view. Fully equipped kitchen units are also available.
The Resort features a fish pond stocked with several thousand Rainbow Trout as well as a gift shop built around a thriving century old Royal Ann Cherry tree. Ping-pong or billiards are available in the game room or try your luck with horseshoes in the meadow by the campfire and picnic tables.
The Sierra County Historical Park and Museum are minutes away at the end of Sierra City. Visitors can experience a journey back in history by exploring the famous Kentucky Mine, which was started in the 1850's, or by touring the stamp mill that traces its origins to 1888.
Within a radius of nine miles, there are more than twenty sparkling mountain lakes providing a spectacular setting for summer fishing, boating, hiking and sightseeing. For the more adventurous, there is world class mountain biking featuring the famous "Downieville Down Hill." Four spectacular 18-hole championship golf courses are less than a half hour away and Tahoe's North Shore is within an hour's drive.
