Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation is a liberal religious community welcoming all. Our generations join together to nurture spiritual growth and personal transformation, that we may be inspired to transform the world with love, hope, compassion and justice.
Our worship services are held every Sunday at 10:00 a.m., with Religious Exploration and childcare offered during the service.
In the fall of 2009, Live Oak adopted the following statement of our Core Values and Covenant of Good Relations:
We, the members and friends of this congregation, value:
Inclusivity, opening our hearts and minds to those who have traveled journeys unlike ours, whose strengths and challenges may be different from ours, remembering that we are all precious, with our own special gifts to offer.
Relationships with others of all ages, and the gifts that each generation brings to our community.
A safe place to make mistakes.
A welcoming space for all to speak their truth respectfully.
The importance of deep listening and respect for each other.
The democratic process, through which we give voice to concerns and offer our time and energy to arrive at solutions.
In my interactions with others in this congregation, I will:
Welcome with an open heart and mind those who wish to call LOUUC their spiritual home, seeking their own path to truth and meaning.
Speak honestly and directly to the person(s) with whom I have a concern, using thoughtful, compassionate language.
Assume good intentions in those with whom I disagree, listen deeply to, and actively seek resolution with those concerned before engaging the Committee on Shared Ministry or the Board of Trustees in conflict mediation.
Forgive the errors and shortcomings of myself and others who contribute to our shared ministry and express gratitude for the many gifts we bring.
Expect divergent beliefs and opinions and persist in respectful dialogue—especially in times of uncertainty—remaining open to new understandings and possibilities that bring vitality to our congregational life.
Express opinions on congregational issues with the intention of helping to make this congregation a better place for myself, Live Oak members and friends, and those who have yet to cross the threshold into our beloved community.
We are a Welcoming Congregation! This Unitarian Universalist community welcomes and celebrates the presence and participation of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people.

Live Oak Resolution Against Proposition 8:
Whereas Unitarian Universalists affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
Whereas the State of California's Supreme Court ruled in the summer of 2008 that marriage is a constitutional right for all;
Whereas Proposition 8 on the November 2008 California ballot, also known as the Limit on Marriage Constitutional Amendment, would take away the right to marriage for same-sex couples;
Whereas Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation is a Welcoming Congregation, whose goal is to reduce prejudice by increasing understanding and acceptance among people of different sexual orientations;
Whereas we feel that legislating prejudice against any person diminishes the fundamental freedoms we all believe in and count on;
Be it resolved, the Board of Trustees of Live Oak UUC joins other congregations and the Pacific Southwest District of the Unitarian Universalist Association in opposing California’s Proposition 8.
