keith's teaching philosophy
I love to challenge people and myself; to always be willing to learn, even from a four year old. The context of our classes is high energy! High energy really helps people learn fast. I let myself get excited about things, and I share that excitement. I can have the greatest information on the planet, I can know a thousand ancient Chinese secrets, but if I just drone on and on about everything I know, Im going to put everyone to sleep. My goal is 100% participation for myself and everybody else. I find that asking questions is far better than giving information (like I know it all), 99% of the time somebody already knows the answer, so why give it. Asking questions encourages participation. I strive to create energy, communication, support, and participation. It is my goal to have everyone leave extra sweaty, and invigorated. The value that one gets from the time just spent on the floor must be clear. I always respect my students, whether they are a four-year-old beginner or a professional athlete.
Any of these people could have chose somewhere else to spend their very valuable time and money. I will respect and appreciate that. I am grateful to be able to make a great living, doing something I love!
Weapons are the tools of violence; all decent men detest them.
Weapons are the tools of fear; a decent man will avoid them except in the direst necessity and, if compelled will use them only with the utmost restraint. Peace is his highest value.
I love to quote and study the Tao Te ChingIt is a breath of fresh air; I love to take it in and share it as often as possible.
