Pacific Learning Center is located in downtown Los Altos, California. Privately owned, Pacific Learning Center offers exceptional individualized tutoring for students ranging from kindergarten through high school.
The center was opened in 1982 by Carol Taylor, an experienced teacher and college lecturer.
Most younger students use the center as a means of remediating mild to moderate academic weaknesses. Middle school and high school students use the center for support in specific subjects such as pre algebra, algebra, geometry, physics etc.
Students enjoy the interactive nature of the one on one tutoring in a safe, professional setting with tutors who know the expectations of the local schools. The lessons are individualized and designed to meet the needs of each student. The center does not use programmed intruction.
Students with special education needs have a home at Pacific Learning Center. The director, a special education teacher, has programs designed to help students succeed academically and compensate for learning differences. Parents of students with special needs often consult with Carol Taylor for information about IEP's, instructional strategies and local resources.
The center is open all year and offers intensive small group classes in reading, writing, math and study skills during the summer.
