Rugs and More is highly experienced in the proper cleaning and maintenance methods for hand made antique rugs, Oriental rugs, and Persian rugs. Hand woven rugs are not suited for many types of cleaning often recommended by "professional" rug cleaners. Typical processes involving running these rugs through industrial grade carpet cleaning equipment, or using carpet steam cleaners and harsh chemicals are a recipe for disaster if applied to a hand woven rug. We have seen the disasters these methods can have, and the damage they can cause. Weave damage, color fading and bleaching, and rips/tears that than need to be repaired costing several times that of the cleaning it's self.
Antique and hand woven rugs require special cleaning methods involving submersion and careful cleaning, than a careful drying process. Much as cleaning is done traditionally at the towns rivers in their countries of origin, Rugs and More uses a process that has been tried and tested for hundreds of years.
Please, don't subject an amazing rug to the roulette game of some of our competitors. Let us care for your rug as if it were our own.

A leaf-patterned blue rug from the courtly heyday of 17th-century Iran sold at Christie's this spring for $9.6 million, 20 times its asking priceand the highest price ever paid for a rug. Several months earlier, Sotheby's sold a rug from the late 1500s for $4.3 million, the going rate for a top sculpture by Alexander Calder.
