Fish Tale Seafood Restaurant was born on November 27, 1977, at the corner of Britton Drive and Bellflower Boulevard in Long Beach, CA. Since then, John and Jerry Bloeser have owned The Fish Tale Restaurant.
John and Jerry also own John Bloeser Carpet One next door to the restaurant as well as the complex of other structures in the 5500 block of Britton Drive. Our great grandfather founded the carpet company, the oldest carpet company in the state of California, in 1879.
The Fish Tale Restaurant is the oldest seafood restaurant in the city of Long Beach. Longevity and stability are very important to our entire family. We are there for our customers, as we have been, for many years.
In 1997 Boston Market leased part of the Fish Tale space and we moved the restaurant into more intimate quarters right next door. In 2001, after Boston Market ceased operations, the space was leased to IHOP.
The Fish Tale's patrons enjoy our warm, comfortable space. We can seat 70 diners at tables and we have bar stools with counter tops for 50 other guests. When you come in through our front patio, you'll notice we have seating for 24 guests and two heaters to keep them warm.
The Fish Tale features a full liquor bar plus outstanding beer and wine. Our oyster bar—like the dining room—offers fresh seafood plus chicken, ribs, steaks and salads.
We put a lot of attention into our dining room. There is a rock fireplace in one corner and tables overlooking our aviary. It is home to a number of different, colorful species of birds. We hope you will enjoy the hanging baskets full of beautiful plants and our rich wood furnishings.
We are proud of our two large salt water fish tanks filled with colorful tropical fish and our live lobster tank, decorating our restaurant.
We welcome you to the Fish Tale and promise you will enjoy your dining experience. We look forward to being your hosts.
