Sunset Waste Systems, Inc. was started by John Mohoff Sr., in 1969. At that time his company recycled approximately 100 tons of cardboard per month. As the years progressed and the demand to lower garbage fees grew, Mr. Mohoff's company experienced steady growth. Today, we process over 10,000 tons of source separated and comingled residential and commercial recyclables, in addition, Sunset provides comprehensive collection services to over 28,000 homes, 1,000 businesses and over 200 industrial accounts. Our success can be attributed to our ability to provide environmentally friendly recycling programs and our commitment to customer satisfaction and job performance.
Sunset Waste Systems provides solid waste collection and recyclable material processing services to several municipalities and commercial enterprises located throughout Fresno, Kern, Tulare and Kings counties. Sunset Waste Systems currently provides these services to the cities and jurisdictions of Fresno, Visalia, Sanger, Reedley, Delano, Woodlake, Biola, Lindsay, the Lemoore Naval Air Station and unincorporated Fresno and Kings counties.
With its recent expansion and the addition of numerous municipal contracts, Sunset Waste Systems now employs nearly 200 people, including a small crew of clients from Social Vocational Services (SVS). The number of employees and SVS clients is expected to grow as the company focuses upon helping other valley municipalities reach and exceed AB 939 mandates.
