We had one of the 10 tagged fish caught, and though it turned out not to be the big winner it still made for an exciting moment.

Fall & Winter 2010
Lake Camanche is excited to announce that we will be planting approximately 90,000 lbs of sterile, triploid trout this fall and winter!
These fish are coming from the Mokelumne Fish Hatchery, right in our own backyard. 20,000 lbs of trout will be planted at the end of October, followed by 10,000 lbs each month until May. These plants are funded by the East Bay Municipal Utilities District in cooperation with the California Department of Fish and Game.
Just to clarify, Lake Camanche will continue to plant trout from the Mt. Lassen hatchery in addition to the 90,000 pounds of trout coming from the Mokelumne Hatchery.
First Annual Derby Day

Thank you to the more than 250 people who came out for Camanche's first annual derby day!
We had one of the 10 tagged fish caught, and though it turned out not to be the big winner it still made for an exciting moment. Anthony Birmingham took home the prize for biggest fish, with Ron Hinds and James Coronado taking second and third. Mike Nicholls won for heaviest stringer. It was a rainy start, but the weather improved and we were able to have a great lunch and give away some fun prizes (thank you to all of our sponsors). If you missed the event this year, don't worry, we'll be doing it again next year.

Lake Camanche held its fourth annual cleanup day event in conjunction with California's Coastal Cleanup Day and the Great Sierra River Cleanup. Over 40 volunteers joined us at the lake and helped collect all sorts of debris and trash from the lake.
Thank you to everyone who came out and made it a great event! Congratulations to Bobby McCorkle and Dave Berg who took first place in the Sacramento Bass Tracker's fishing tournament held at Camanche on Saturday.
And finally, General Manager Mary Mendence reported seeing a beautiful bald eagle soaring around the narrows on Saturday evening.

Boy Scout Pack #439 from Lathrop, Ca. participated in a volunteer project on Saturday, September 11, at Lake Camanche. The scouts camped out overnight and then helped create 20 burms around tree basins in the Blue Oaks campground at North Shore. This work was done in pursuit of various merit badges. We are very grateful for their help. Thank you Pack #439!

Camanche's lake record for largemouth bass, last set in 2003, was recently broken by Yolk Chu.
You can view the rest of our lake records here.

Vessel owners will be asked to complete a vessel history survey and to present the vessel in a clean and dry condition. The condition of the vessel will be determined by a physical inspection. In order to help prevent the spread of all aquatic invasive species, the “Clean and Dry, Inside and Out” requirement for all vessel owners will be enforced again this year and into the future.
For more information, including detailed descriptions of the vessel history survey and the physical inspection or to learn more about invasive mussels, please visit EBMUD's website.
We look forward to making Lake Camanche and Lake Pardee a fun and safe part of your boating season.

The Camanche Recreation Area is a public facility operated by agreement with the East Bay Municipal Utility District by the California Parks Company.
